How can I run the Budget vs Actual Report for just one specific customer

You will need to customize the report from the built-in Budget vs Actual Report. And save that customized report and make it My Custom Reports. Next time, you can run it from My Custom Reports tab.(Budget feature is available only in PLUS plan subscription in QBO).

  1. To customize the report:
    Run the regular Budget vs Actuals Report (left navigation bar > reports > go to report field and type budget vs actuals).
  2. Click Customize button at the upper right corner.
  3. Go to Rows/Columns section and select “Accounts vs. Customers under Show Grid.
    Go to Filter section and select a customer in question from the list.
  4. Select Run Report.
  5. Optional: Customize more if needed like editing the header for report title and so on.
  6. Click “Save Customizations” button at the upper right corner.
  7. Next time, you want to run that report, you can run it from My Custom Reports tab. (from the left navigation bar > reports > select my custom reports tab).

Note: If you’re still using the previous version of designed reports format (not newly redesigned reports, customize button is at left corner. Rest of the customization process should still be more or less the same. See attached screen shots.

Can I make a copy of a budget in new QuickBooks Online?

You can “copy from an existing budget” to create new budget.

From the company gear (upper right hand corner) > Tools > Budgeting > select “New Budget” blue button (top right)

It will take to mini-interview screens. Page 2 of 4 mini-screen page will give you selection to choose “copy from and existing budget” drop-down selector.

How do you run a Budget vs Actual P&L report in new QuickBooks Online?

Budget Reports

Budget vs. Actuals is a standard report in new QuickBooks Online. Once you have entered budget in QBO, you can run the following two reports:

      Budget Overview
      Budget vs. Actuals

To run this report:

  • From the home page screen
  • Go to blue navigation bar on the left
  • Select Reports
  • Select “Go to report” (magnifying glass), type Budget (or select from drop-down selector
  • Select Budget vs Actuals report
  • Customize as required
